Our Programs

Our programs take advantage of out-of-school learning times (including Saturdays, after-school hours, and summer vacations) to enhance the reading skills of children in grades 1-5.

Our proven programs are characterized by:

bullet Structured instruction targeted to grade-level specific Georgia education standards
bullet A small group format (6-8 students per class)
bullet Instruction led by certified teachers
bullet Evaluation for effectiveness
bullet Availability on site at participating schools and other local community partner locations
bullet Flexible scheduling that can be adapted to existing activities

Eligibility

Students eligible for participation are referred by local school officials of participating public schools in Cobb County or by another local partner. Students are considered eligible if they are at risk of failing to meet Georgia's academic achievement standards, if they need additional instruction and support in the specific skills/concepts that are the focus of the chosen program, and if they come from low to moderate income families.

"I honestly felt like I helped to make a difference when Jose scored a 215 out of 220 on his sight words (after starting the program at 162). I left on my last day with tears in my eyes because I was so proud and happy."

- Amanda Wade, Reading Mentor

"My daughter has learned to comprehend more in her reading and recognize a lot more words than when she started. Thank you. It was exceptional!"

- Parent of Reading Saturday Student

"I must say the last Reading Saturday was a bittersweet day. I truly did not realize how much this program meant to me until the end and everyone was leaving. Omosaze has been a blessing to not just me but everyone involved."

- Michele Jones, Site Coordinator for Bryant Elementary
